BIG BOOST FOR HASTINGS WOMEN’S REFUGE

The Port Macquarie Hastings Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Service has received a big boost, to the tune of more than $15,000.

The donation, presented by the Hastings Business Women’s Network, will go towards the local women’s refuge.

“They want to make sure that they can invest funds in supporting women, but these are things that they wouldn’t normally be able to have the funds to do,” Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said.

“Although we’re supporting in excess of 1,000 women and children in a 12 month period, we know there’s many more who do require the services,” CEO Gemma Morley said.

The money was raised at this year’s International Women’s Day Breakfast, which featured domestic violence campaigner Rosie Batty.
