A fight between two men on the Gold Coast has left one in hospital and another facing assault charges.
Police say a fight broke out between two men on the Esplanade between Hanlon Street and Trickett Street in Surfers Paradise around 12:20am today.
A 47-year-old Fortitude Valley man was allegedly punched in the head and fell to the ground rendering him unconscious, and was then punched several times while on the ground.
Police arrested a 25-year-old man from Surfers Paradise, who was later charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
He will face the Southport Magistrates Court next month.
The injured man sustained serious facial injuries and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
