SHAKY START FOR WRIGHT ON THE GOLD COAST

Tyler Wright’s world title defence is off to a shaky start, with the former Lennox Head surfer beaten in round one of the tour opener on the Gold Coast.
Wright caught 13 waves in the inconsistent conditions, but couldn’t match fellow Aussie Nikki Van Dijk, who produced an eight and a six.
Better news for Sally Fitzgibbons.
She was chasing a solid score in the final minute of her heat.
“A pretty serious hack off the top, right into a snap, and fades it one more time.”
A seven point nine saw her advance straight to round three.
