Police say heavy rain is likely to be a contributing factor to a single vehicle crash, which killed a 43-year-old man on the mid north coast.
A Holden Commodore was being driven by a 39-year-old woman along the Lakes Way at Smiths Lake, when it left the road and hit a power pole at around 7:30 this morning.
The driver was treated for shock and taken to Manning Base Hospital.
Crash investigators from Newcastle have been called in to examine the scene.
