MAN ON THE RUN AFTER ALLEGEDLY STEALING VEHICLE AND RUNNING A CAR OFF THE ROAD

Police are hunting a man after he allegedly stole a vehicle and ran another car off the road, before evading police and ramming another two cars at Port Stephens.

Around 1:30 this morning, a 56-year-old man noticed his Nissan Patrol had been stolen from his home on Gibbers Drive at Lemon Tree Passage.

He then left his home in a Hyundai Excel, and saw his Nissan Patrol being driven along Lemon Tree Passage Drive at Salt Ash.

The man attempted to stop the vehicle, but the male driver of the Nissan allegedly hit the Hyundai, causing it to veer off the road and roll.

The man who was driving the Hyundai was not injured.

Police then located the vehicle travelling along Medowie Road at Twelve Mile Creek, where they allege it struck another vehicle as it merged onto the Pacific Highway.

During the pursuit that followed, the Nissan allegedly struck a parked car before the driver fled the scene on foot.

Anyone witnesses are urged to contact police.
