MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGEDLY LIGHTING FIRES IN THE NORTH WEST

A volunteer firefighter will appear in court in April, accused of deliberately lighting a fire near the North West.

Police have been investigating more than 25 grass and bushfires in the Tingha area between August and December last year.

A 19-year-old man attended Inverell Police Station last night, where he was charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless to its spread.

It’s alleged he lit a bushfire on September 28 last year.

The man will appear in local court on Thursday 13 April.
