Tamworth Pony Club received a major financial boost today, with the state government announcing $25,000 to go towards updating its facilities.
The bulk of the funding will be used to improve the amenities block.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson, says the group is vital for young people interested in the equine industry.
“They get in the fresh air and they get some exercise. They learn how to look after an animal, they learn how to respect an animal and they learn how to basically be around animals.”
It’s hoped the grant will help young north west riders reach their potential.
“We have had Olympic riders in the past come through Pony Club. So Pony Club is a stepping stone to much bigger events.”
