PORT CITY PULLS OFF BOWLS COUP

Port Macquarie has pulled off another sporting coup, hosting qualifying rounds for next year’s Women’s Australian Open Lawn Bowls.

Port City Bowling Club will stage the event from Tuesday-week.

It’s one of only three venues in New South Wales to host qualifiers.

Others include West Dubbo and lawn-bowls-mecca, St John’s Park.

The program includes singles, pairs and triples matches across three days.

One individual, or team, from each discipline will qualify for the Australian open to be played in Melbourne in mid-February next year.
