MAN AIRLIFTED OUT OF WATAGANS NATIONAL PARK AFTER BIKE ACCIDENT

A 53-year-old man has been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, after sustaining serious injuries in a mountain bike accident on the Central Coast this morning.

The man sustained a broken leg and suspected broken pelvis while riding in the Watagans National Park at about 8.30.

It’s understood he fell around 40 metres.

Rescue teams hiked into dense bush to reach the patient and used chainsaws to clear a landing site for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The man has been airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

  1. Good thing he was rescued immediately. Who knows what could have happened if no one was able to reach him. Hopefully he has undergone rehab. a 40 meter fall is no joke. That was scary.
