ST AGNES PARISH SAVES TUFFINS LANE
Sporting groups in Port Macquarie have been thrown a lifeline, with the local Catholic diocese purchasing the Tuffins Lane playing fields.
The St Agnes Parish says it wanted to ensure the land remains available to the community, after the owner gave sports clubs 18 months to vacate.
Tuffins lane is home to thousands of touch football, soccer, oztag and cricket players – as well as the Junior and Senior State Cups.
The Parish is likely to enter a lease agreement with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, over the maintenance of the fields.
