THREE POLICE ASSAULTED IN SURFERS PARADISE

Three police officers have allegedly been assaulted during a fight on the Gold Coast early this morning.

According to police, around 4.20am a fight involving a group of people broke out at Cavill Mall in Surfers Paradise.

Police allege that as they arrested one of the men, another man struck a male constable in the shoulder.

The man then allegedly hit a second officer in the chest, arms and shoulders.

Police were forced to use capsicum spray, after he allegedly attempted to assault other officers.

A 41-year-old Pimpama man has been charged with committing public nuisance, and contravening a domestic violence order.

A 29-year-old Robina man has been charged with four counts of assaulting police.

Both are due to appear in January.

The police officers did not require medical treatment.
