A 36-year-old woman has died following a hit-and-run at Newcastle this morning.
Police say a white ute lost control on a roundabout at Wickham just after 9 o’clock, hitting the woman’s scooter while she was waiting on Branch Street.
The ute then mounted the kerb and smashed into a fence.
Police are on the hunt for the driver who fled the scene.
It’s believed he’s about 175-180-centimetres tall, with short brown hair and blood on his face.
He was wearing high visibility clothing at the time.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the whereabouts of the man, should call Newcastle Police or Crime Stoppers.
