MAN ASSAULTED AFTER BREAK-IN NEAR NEWCASTLE
A 66 year-old man has been hospitalised after he was assaulted by up to 12 men inside a home at Newcastle on the weekend.
He was asleep inside a home on Croudace Road at Elermore Vale early on Saturday morning, when police say he was woken by yelling and screaming.
The group of men knocked down his bedroom door, which fell on the man, before further assaulting the man.
A vehicle parked in the house’s garage was also damaged after the front window was smashed.
The victim was taken to John Hunter Hospital with injuries to his eye, face and chest.
He’s now in a stable condition.
Police are urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward.
