A man is on the run after a home invasion in the New England region early this morning.
About 1am, a 67-year-old man was asleep in his home on Kentucky Street in Armidale, when he woke to find a man in his bedroom armed with a knife.
The man called for help, and another resident of the home, a man aged 48, came to assist.
The intruder slashed at the younger man, causing a small laceration to his neck. The offender then fled the scene.
The 48-year-old was taken to hospital where he was treated for the injury.
The offender has been described as in his mid to late 20s, with dark skin, average height and build, with scruffy black hair and a beard. He was wearing dark clothing.
