DREAMWORLD STAFF TO RETURN TO WORK FOR PARK MAINTENANCE

Some of the staff at Dreamworld will return to work today almost a week after four people were killed when a ride malfunctioned, although the park will remain closed.

Staff who are returning to work today are doing so on a voluntary basis and will be cleaning, carrying out maintenance and feeding the animals.

On Friday, Dreamworld CEO Craig Davidson said the Gold Coast theme park would remain closed at least until after the victims funerals.

The park also remains the site of a police investigation and internal and external safety audits still need to take place.

Around 400 to 500 staff attended a private memorial at the park on Friday, alongside Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate.

Canberra woman Kate Goodchild, 32, her brother Luke Dorsett, his partner Roozbeh Araghi, and Sydney-based Kiwi woman Cindy Low, 42, were killed when their raft overturned on the Thunder River Rapids ride last week.
