RESCUE CHOPPER CALLED IN FOR MEDICAL EMERGENCY ON COAL SHIP

A medical mercy mission this afternoon, with a man flown to hospital from a coal ship off Newcastle.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked with airlifting the 65-year-old from the United Crown, which was almost 10kms off the coast between Redhead and Swansea.

Suffering a heart condition, the man was taken to John Hunter Hospital.
