NORTH COAST SHARK NET TRIAL IN DEVELOPMENT

Plans are underway for a six month trial of shark netting on the North Coast after key stakeholders met with DPI representatives in Ballina yesterday.

The introduction of nets was discussed as an additional measure alongside the SMART drum lines, aerial surveillance, drones and listening stations already in place.

So far, 41 great whites and five bull sharks have been tagged and relocated off north coast beaches.
