$50,000 TO SOLVE TAMWORTH’S BAT PROBLEM

Tamworth Regional Council has been granted $50,000 from the state government, in an effort to combat the region’s flying fox issue.

Up to 80,000 bats lived along King George The Fifth Avenue during problem’s peak in 20-15, resulting in council creating a draft Flying-Fox management plan.

“With the $50,000, that will help us to start with the management actions we’ve identified in the plan and will help to give a bit of relief to those residents who are directly impacted by the flying fox camps.”

The proposed work includes the removal of roosting trees along the riverbank at Bicentennial Park, and habitat thinning on King George The Fifth Avenue.
