Concerns are growing in the community after a string of flights were cancelled between Sydney and Tamworth over the past fortnight.

Seven flights have been cancelled between the two cities, prompting councillors to lobby to the state and federal governments to rectify the issue.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is reinforcing that the community’s safety is the top priority.

“I trust that QantasLink will continue to service Tamworth as they have done for many years, they love this region, they know how important Tamworth is to them and we know how important they are to us.”

A Qantas spokesperson has told NBN News that the cancellations were due to high wind conditions and engineering issues in Sydney.

They are continuing to work on minimising disruption to the region’s service.
