ARM ALMOST SEVERED IN BOWRAVILLE HOME INVASION

A man has been seriously injured with a machete during a home invasion on the mid north coast.

Around 5:30am on Thursday, three unknown intruders forced their way into a house on Tank Road, Bowraville.

A 54-year-old man inside the home confronted the men and an altercation ensued.

The victim was struck twice to the head with a machete, and his right arm was almost severed when he was struck on the forearm. He suffered another blow to the lower back.

Police say the intruders then loaded the victim’s Harley Davidson motorcycle in the rear of a blue Holden Commodore ute, which they also stole from the home.

The victim notified neighbours and was taken to hospital where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The Commodore ute has the NSW registration BX80DD.

The offender who was armed with the machette is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance. The other two offenders had their faces covered at the time of the incident.
