POLICE TASER ALLEGED THIEF ON THE GOLD COAST

Police have tasered a man after he allegedly stole cash from a Gold Coast business, then refused to comply with officers.

Around 3:15pm yesterday, police say a male entered a business on the Gold Coast Highway at Broadbeach, and demanded money from staff members.

They complied, and the man fled on foot before allegedly attempting to enter a number of vehicles in the carpark without success.

A man was later located by police sitting inside a vehicle with a smashed window on Surf Parade. Despite several requests to show his hands, he allegedly refused to comply, and officers tasered him.

He was apprehended and transferred to hospital, before being released back into police custody.

The 32-year-old Edens Landing man has been charged with a number of offences, including two counts of entering a premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, and obstructing a police officer.

He’s due to appear in court on October 10.
