SHOEMAKER APPOINTED S.C.U VICE CHANCELLOR

Southern Cross University has welcomed its fifth vice-chancellor.

Canadian-born Professor Adam Shoemaker’s taken on the role, after holding similar positions at several other Australian universities.

“What I feel already from Southern Cross is an incredible sense of community, of sort of family, and of the region and connection.”

“This place is very renowned for personal attitudes and personal connections with students. As you grow you want to retain that, not lose it. That’s the challenge.”

Shoemaker, a leading indigenous literature scholar, replaces retired vice-chancellor Professor Peter Lee.
