Police are investigating a collision between a truck and a car near Grafton, which killed a man and a woman this morning.
Emergency services were called to the incident on the Gwydir Highway at Waterview, paramedics attempted to assist the male driver and female passenger of the car but they both died at the scene.
They are yet to be formally identified.
The driver of the truck was taken to hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.
Traffic diversions are in place and are expected to remain for some hours.
