HAMILTON BUSINESSES CALL FOR MEETING WITH PREMIER

Business owners in Hamilton are calling for a meeting with the Premier, to discuss a spike in crime in the suburb.

They claim there’s been a rise in the number of break-ins and robberies along Beaumont Street since the truncation of the heavy rail line.
“We’ve written to the minister for transport and the minister for police to ask them for funding to either put in CCTV or pay for a security guard.”

The local Chamber of Commerce says so far, the request appears to have fallen on deaf ears.
