FUNDING SECURED FOR A MANNING VALLEY MARQUEE

More events could soon be held on the banks of Taree’s iconic Manning River, after $20,000 in state funding was secured for a new semi-permanent marquee.

It follows a strong campaign by the Lions Club of Taree, who ran a petition for several months.

“We’re very ecstatic about it because we’re having our own event Tastefest on the 14th of January 2017 and that marquee hopefully that will be its first outing for that event,” the club said.

“Once we had two and a half thousand signatures that shows how much support from the community it was pretty easy to talk the premier into funding it,” Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said.

The marquee will be installed at Queen Elizabeth Park and hold around 400 people.
