PAUL PERRY ENJOYING ONE OF HIS BEST SEASONS IN A DECADE

The Newcastle premierships will be decided this weekend when the NJC hosts its final meeting for the season.
Sydney’s Chris Waller leads the trainer’s category with 20 wins at Broadmeadow, with locals Paul Perry and Kris Lees trailing with 17 and 16 respectively.
Perry has scored more than 100 winners across the country this season for the first time in more than a decade… despite a lack of high-profile runners.
“We’ve missed a big horse like that for a few seasons now but hopefully there’s one in this crop, a lovely crop of young ones coming up so cross the fingers for that.”
A move to Broadmeadow’s secondary surface, the Beaumont Track, certainly hasn’t hurt the stable’s chances.
“Gee it’s been a blessing. It’s been a great track. Everyone can’t wait for the course proper. We’ll have the best racing surface in Australia by then I’d say.”
