WOMAN CHARGED OVER FRAUD AND POLICE PURSUITS NEAR TWEED HEADS
A woman has been charged in relation to two police pursuits and attempting to fraudulently pay for petrol near Tweed Heads yesterday
Shortly after 2 o’clock in the afternoon, a 26-year-old woman entered a cafe on Tweed Valley Way at Mooball, where she allegedly attempted to pay for petrol with a fraudulent cheque.
Staff challenged the woman, who threatened staff before fleeing.
Police were notified and the woman was arrested nearby after a short foot chase.
Following her arrest, police found a stolen Chrysler sedan nearby. Police allege that the woman was the driver of the Chrysler and had previously led police on two pursuits in the Tweed/Byron area.
The woman was charged with a number of offences including two counts of Skye’s law, two counts of driving whilst disqualified, and resisting arrest.
She is due to appear in local court tomorrow.
