Relief for the New England Regional Art Museum, with Armidale Regional Council waiving it’s backlog of debt that the gallery has been trying to pay back for over a decade.

Council administrator Dr Ian Tiley approved the debt forgiveness late last month, under strict instructions to reduce the current balance of $152,400 to $100,000 first.

He, as well as the NERAM Board, hope re-setting the balance will improve Armidale’s most significant tourism and cultural facility.
