A 50-year-old man has been threatened with a knife and forced to withdraw cash from an ATM on the Gold Coast this morning.

About 7am, the man was inside his residence at a caravan park on Broadbeach Nerang Road in Carrara, when he was approached by a man armed with a knife, demanding he drive them to the nearest ATM.

The pair drove to an Ashmore shopping centre where the robber withdrew cash before returning to the vehicle and forcing the victim to drive to a service station.

Shortly after, the accused fled on foot with the stolen cash. No one was injured during the incident.

Police want to speak to a man described as being Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late 30s or early 40s.
