HMRI FEATURE: THE IMPACT OF DEMENTIA ON FAMILIES AND SOCIETY

It’s often described as a “long goodbye” – the slow and painful creep of dementia.

More than 350-thousand Australians are currently living with the disease and that figure is growing at a rate for which, experts fear, we’re unprepared.

Tonight, in the first part of a series for medical research week, we look at the profound impact of dementia on families and our broader society, plus a promising new therapy that’s literally been plucked out of “thin air”.
