DRIVER CHARGED OVER FATAL MARYLAND HEAD-ON COLLISION

A man has been charged after a passenger died in a head-on collision in the Newcastle suburb of Maryland earlier this year.

Around 10:30am on the 5th of January, a Subaru Impreza and a Holden Commodore were involved in a head-on collision on Maryland Drive .

A 20-year-old passenger in the Holden died as a result of the crash. The 32-year-old driver of the Subaru was uninjured.

Following investigations, police issued the 19-year-old driver of the Holden with a court attendance notice on Friday. The offences include dangerous driving occasioning death,negligent driving occasioning death, and driving with an illicit drug present in the blood.

The man will appear at court on 28 July.
