CYCLOCROSS REVELS IN WILD WEATHER

While most sports in the Hunter were called off this weekend, the Newcastle Cyclocross community was delighted with conditions at Adamstown for the third round of the state series.

A healthy field of almost 100 riders took on the challenge, slopping through the mud and puddles, some with a little help from spectators.

With local hope Chris Aitken on duty with his team in Adelaide, Sydney’s Garry Millburn was always going to be hard to stop.

He powered home to win his second race of the year in Newcastle.
