STRIKE DAY 2: DON’T TRASH LOCAL JOBS

Strike action from local waste operators on the Central Coast has continued into a second day, as they took their plight to Gosford streets.

“What do we want- secure pay secure jobs, when do we want it now.”

The group is calling on the administrator of the new Central Coast Council to safeguard jobs and wages when they go out to tender at the end of the month.

Today members aired their frustrations on Council steps, demanding another meeting with the administrator.

“It’s not because the garbo’s aren’t working it’s cause council won’t meet with the garbos we want answers from the council themselves and we just want to get the right thing done- we want to get back out there get to work and get the job done,” Driver Rob Collins said.

Casual contractors were employed to clean up the mess today.

Local workers say they will decide on Monday if the action will continue.
