NEWCASTLE MAN SENTENCED TO 32 YEARS GAOL FOR MURDER

Newcastle man Anthony Richard Dent will spend at least 32-years in goal for the murder of Anthony O’Grady back in 2014.

A Sydney Supreme Court today handed down a 40-year-sentence for the murder, with the non-parole period.

The court described the murder as a “gratuitous killing for no good reason.”

Dent and three other men lured Mr O’Grady to Wickham Park in March, bashing him unconscious and then emptying his pockets.

They then gagged him and hog tied his hands and feet.

Mr O’Grady was found by a passer by the next morning.

Dent will be eligible for parole in 2048.
