WEATHER: SYDNEY’S HOTTEST APRIL DAY ON RECORD

Today Sydney ended up reaching 34.2 making it the hottest April day in 150 years of record taking. Averages for our region have been incredibly high for April, 4 to 9 degrees above normal. A cooler change is now making it’s way up the coast but it will run out of puff as it reaches northern NSW so it’s impact will be small for that part of the state and SE QLD. The change will begin a run of cooler conditions for the Central Coast, Hunter and MNC with showers, sadly, virtually no rain will fall across the inland areas of the NW.
There is now a chance we may see our first inland rain event since January unfold during the third week of April for the NW. I’ll be watching this development closely in the coming days and weeks.

Today’s local records.
Today was the hottest April day in 22 yrs for Cessnock with 35 degrees.
Maitland 16 yrs 36 degrees,
Mangrove Mt 19 years 33,
Scone 23 yrs 35 degrees,
Singleton 11 yrs 35,
Glen Innes 17 yrs 28,
Tamworth 22 yrs 33 degrees.
Cool change moving up the coast tonight.
