POLICE INVESTIGATE DELIBERATELY LIT GRASS FIRES NEAR GUNNEDAH

Police are appealing for help to track down those responsible for more than a dozen deliberately lit grass fires near Gunnedah at the weekend.

Around 10pm on Sunday, police received several calls relating to roadside grass fires.

They say between 15-20 fires were lit from Longarm Road Rangari to Barraba, along Fossickers Way, Manilla, west on Rushes Creek Road and along Oxley Highway toward Gunnedah.

The NSW Rural Fire Service attended each fire and they were extinguished without incident.

Anyone who noticed anything suspicious is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
