Work to restore Wigmore Arcade’s iconic River Street facade will begin soon, as part of the site’s $2 million dollar makeover.
The original over-street awning, which was constructed in the late 1920s, will be freshened up.
The work will also include the installation of a new roof over the arcade’s interior.
Scaffolding will be erected on the footpath and in several car spaces during construction, but shoppers are being assured trade will continue as normal.
The restoration is expected to take around 12 weeks.
