BABY JOEYS BRING JOY FOR TASSIE DEVIL PROGRAM

Four months after their historic move to Tasmania, there’s some positive news regarding tassie devils bred in the Hunter.

One of them, Bree, now has four babies onboard – the first confirmed set of joeys since the marsupials were released in the island state.

Devil Ark staff in the Barrington Tops say they’re elated and proud – describing it as an exciting moment in their journey to save the native species, which is at serious risk of extinction from facial tumour disease.

22 devils from the Hunter were released on Tasmania’s Forestier’s Peninsula last November.
