Singleton Council will remove 12 plane trees on John Street, with them beginning to impact upon pedestrian access.
The semi-mature trees have extensive root systems, which are causing problems to the footpath, kerb, roadway and sewer systems between Hunter and Campbell streets.
The trees will be replaced with a smaller, more suitable species over the next 12 months.
