A paraglider had to be airlifted to John Hunter Hospital this afternoon after crashing on a Newcastle Beach while trying to land.
The incident drew a large response from emergency services with initial reports suggesting he was stuck on a cliff.
The 59 year-old pilot suffered a suspected fractured femur.
