A Tamworth resident has received a national Foster and Kinship Care award for his work with children.
Allan Skippen has been a foster carer for 15 years, and currently looks after five children.
He received the National Carer Award at a luncheon in Sydney yesterday.
Mr Skippen says being a carer is extremely rewarding and they’re in high demand.
“It’s quite huge, and you know, foster caring is a vocation and yeah we need more of them, we really really do.”
