NRL FIRST: KNIGHTS NAME THREE CO-CAPTAINS

In an NRL first, the Newcastle Knights have named three co-captains to lead the team this season.

Coach Nathan Brown believes appointing Jeremy Smith, Tariq Sims and Trent Hodkinson to the role is the best move for the club.

“They are three really good candidates, all at different stages of their career,” he said.

Smith joined the club in 2013 and has played 54 games for the Knights, while Sims is entering his second season with Newcastle.

This will be Hodkinson’s first year with the club, but the Knights say he’s had an immediate impact.

Brown has also described the trio’s off-field records as impeccable and says they’ll continue to contribute to the wider community.
