POLICE INVESTIGATE WILLIAM TYRRELL GRAFFITI

Police have ruled out links between a bizarre grafitti message and the disappearance of toddler William Tyrrell.

The words “Jesus saves William Tyrell” were found painted on a tree stump inside state forest about 10 kilometres from Kendall, where William vanished.

A member of the public made the discovery, along with a small jar full of items, yesterday.

In a statement, police say they’re confident the items were part of a GPS treasure-hunt game known as ‘geocaching’.

Detectives also say they’re disappointed the game made reference to William’s disappearance.

  1. I would like to take this opportunity to correct the perception currently being held by the police regarding the graffiti. The geocache which is a plastic jar was placed there in 2012 which is way before this sign appeared. Also geocachers follow strict guidelines which includes not defacing public property or damaging flora. This sign appeared by coincidence next to a geocache that has been there for 3.5 years!
Also we have been advised that the police are fully aware that the sign is in no way connected to the geocache – so how on earth can an article be written by a journalist claiming out of seemingly thin air that the two are connected? Which police claimed that they were connected – what were their exact words? Could the journalist have misunderstood what was said by the detectives? Is that possible?
We would like an explanation please.

  2. I am disgusted that this journalist would infer that there is a connection with Geocaching and this graffiti when the police have already confirmed that there is none. Get your facts straight before you throw a community of rsspectable, law-abiding people under suspicion for such an abhorant crime. This story should be corrected.

  3. The geocache in question was placed there on the 30/7/12. Over two years prior to little Williams disappearance. That and no other geocache make any reference to the boy. Pretty dodgy reporting, making a wonderful, family friendly hobby sound terrible.
An apology to the geocaching community would be in order.

  4. The disappearance of William is tragic. The graffiti on the tree is offensive and insensitive. The inference that any part of this is related to he geocaching community is very upsetting. Please check your facts and correct/retract your statement as there is nothing linking geocaching with the graffiti or the abduction other than mere coincidence. The cache was placed in 2012, before William was abducted and the graffiti is recent, no more than a week old. Please don’t slaughter geocaching through incorrect reporting.
http://www.presscouncil.org.au will be informed of the reporting of inaccurate information by Louise Rennie.

  5. I’ am very disgusted that false accusations have been made against an outdoor game ‘Geocaching’ the media need to get your facts right before bad mouthing a fantastic game that is world wide and is played by thousands of people. An apology would be much appreciated and this story should be corrected! The police are very much aware about ‘Geocaching’ and this has nothing to do with the graffiti that coincidentally happen to be right where the ‘cache” is, the cache has been there since 2012, so think before you act and judge!!!!!!

  6. I totally agree with the previous comments. Geocaching is a respectable, family orientated game played all over the world, and for the media to instigate their is a link between geocaching and the graffiti on the tree. As others have said, get your facts right before disparaging a very enjoyable outdoor game. It was just coincindence the cache was there at the same spot the graffiti was. How about focusing your energies on helping to find William, instead of getting your facts wrong. A recant would be appreciated and the facts to be set straight.

  7. Typical reporting by young and uneducated journalists. Please get your facts correct before reporting sensationalistic garbage that is a poor attempt to ruin a fun , outdoor hobby that is enjoyed by tens of thousands of people in Australia, and millions worldwide.
Educate yourselves and do some research on Geocaching. You may find a decent hobby to entertain yourselves rather than your present “hobby” of journalism.

This Geocache has been in place for years and I discovered it in early 2004. All of the caches in this series are well maintained by the cache owners and this is the first time I’ve seen vandalism on any caches in the area.

  8. Maybe people have to Learn and respect things
By not graffiting on a tree and respect the nature
    If this beautiful country

  9. if the jar been there for 3.5 years then that’s litting and police or council should impose a litting find.

This also make me wonder now could the person who took this boy been party to the geocachers followers or used it as a way of keeping tabs on the house and surround area in order to take the boy,

Most Kidnappers in America and Britain’s plan their kidnapping months even years before very rarely is it on the same day, Most kidnappings are not just someone working alone where kidnapper is concerns due to the nature of maintaining the child’s quietness if they plan to keep the child,

According to America criminal investigators 68 percent of kidnappers only take the children to replace one of their own they either lost or could not have of their own. while the 14 percent are sexual offenders, 6 percents are murders, 12 percents are connect to paedophile rings involving police, churches, government officials.

How interest is the last bit to include police given we still have beaumont children unsolved case where it is now just being reveals cops were involved in 1966 in South Australia child sex trade make me wonder about how many children fell prey to these cops in New South Wales over the years who were involved in the sex trade.

And this royal commission in paedophiles in churches has not even looked at Judges, police and government officials like Just Woods royal commission in corruption in New South Wales police where it was well known even judges preyed upon young boys, and police with young cadets and street kids.

Who’s to say most of the sex offenders in jail actual committed half these crimes considering the level of cover up.
