POLICE INVESTIGATE AFTER ANIMALS SHOT WITH ARROWS AT WYEE POINT

Police are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty involving a goanna, shot with an arrow at Wyee Point.

The reptile was found in bushland off Larapinta Drive yesterday, with the arrow still protruding from its body.

It was taken to a vet for treatment and is being cared-for by staff.

The RSPCA says on the same day a kangaroo was found nearby with an arrow in its chest, while a joey was found on Monday suffering similar injuries – both have since died.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Lake Macquarie Police.
