The company responsible for cleaning up the former Boolaroo lead smelter site will pay $3,000 in fines for exceeding heavy metal limits, in site discharge.
The New South Wales EPA issued the Pasminco Cockle Creek Smelter with two fines and an official caution for offences in 2014.
Pasminco says the incident was due to a failure of instruments.
