An extra lifeguard could soon patrol Shelley Beach, after safety concerns were raised with Ballina Shire Council.
Far North Coast Surf Lifesaving says two lifeguards are needed at the popular spot during the busy christmas holiday period.
Council hopes to partly-fund the extra lifeguard, with the remaining cost covered by the State Government’s shark attack prevention strategy.
