POLICE LAUNCH FRESH APPEALS FOR INFORMATION IN TIAHLEIGH PALMER MURDER PROBE

Queensland police will today launch two fresh appeals in a bid to solve the murder of 12-year-old schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer.

Tiahleigh was last seen alive when she was dropped off at Marsden State High School by her foster carer on October 30 at around 8.10am.

Her badly decomposed body was found on the banks of the Pimpama River six days later, more than 30km away from the school.

She was missing her distinctive pink Mambo backpack and school uniform when she was found.

Police will set up a Crime Stoppers marquee outside the school today.

Images of Tiahleigh and the missing backpack will be displayed in the hope someone with information will come forward.

Drivers will also be intercepted around Kerkin Road at Pimpama today, near where the schoolgirl’s body was found.

Motorists with dash cams who were in the area between October 30 and November 5 are being asked to contact police.

A team of around 60 detectives have interviewed Tiahleigh’s classmates and a forensic search has been conducted around the school.

Queensland police minister Jo-Ann Miller yesterday urged the public to come forward with any details that may help solve the case.

“It’s obvious that someone knows something,” Ms Miller said.

“A little girl, 12 years old, just doesn’t go missing without someone knowing about it.

“The police cannot solve this by themselves and that’s why we need anybody at all who has any information to contact Crime Stoppers.”

Tiahleigh will be farewelled at a funeral in Mount Cotton on Saturday.

Anyone with information relating to Tiahleigh’s death is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
