Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson says he will be collecting new data around whether emergency winching should be reinstated for the Tamworth Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Mr Anderson met with Health Minister Jillian Skinner who gave him the go ahead to conduct the research.
Tamworth’s helicopter stopped winching in 2013, reasoning there weren’t enough incidents to justify the danger of the operation.
Mr Anderson feels the data might not reflect what is actually happening on the ground.
“What we’ve got to do is say righto, here is what’s happening out in the regions, here is what the minister is getting, lets match that up and see what’s happening and go from there.”
