The amalgamation of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie councils today moved a step closer, with the state’s regulatory tribunal declaring them ‘unfit’ to stand alone.
The IPART report has riled councillors, with Newcastle’s Lord Mayor labelling it “Sydney focused”.
