The A-League will take no action against Sydney FC striker Shane Smeltz, after referee Peter Green deemed the clash that left Newcastle keeper Mark Birighitti with severe facial injuries to be accidental.
Birighitti had two teeth re-inserted today after being hit in the mouth by Smeltz’s boot on Saturday night.
Jets officials say they must now accept there is no avenue to contest the decision, and concentrate on Birighitti’s recovery.
